GRANDVIEW GOLF COURSE- MENS LEAGUE- PLAYOFF FORMAT

Special Playoff Rules-
-          Playoffs start July 31st
-          All wins are worth 3 points and ties are worth 1 point. An extra point will be awarded to the tied player using the following tiebreaker: 1. Low net, 2. Hole by hole (w/hdcp) score starting on hole 9 & continuing to hole 1 thru 8. 3. Current point total & going back week by week until the tie is broken.
-          All match ups are determined by standings.
-          Bank rounds CAN be used for the first two playoff weeks (July 31 & August 7). The Bartus rule must be used for August 14 & 21 match ups. NO MAKE UPS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR AUGUST 28th FINAL.
-          We will try to pair foursomes for August 21st & 28th. It important that players competing for playoff spots play against each other head to head. The August 28th match will be the finals and will determine who will play for the Championship. Players not in contention for the championship will not be asked to play in set foursomes.
-          Ghost scores will be used for no-shows and players without make ups. The ghost score will be a bogey on each hole while adding one stroke to each hole (in order of hole ranking) to match their current handicap. The player who does not show WILL NOT receive points for ghost score wins but players playing no-shows or players without make ups will have to beat the ghost score to get points. No free points.
-          Handicaps will be frozen after August 14th matches.

August 28- CHAMPIONSHIP DAY
This year the Championship field will be 20, based on the number of members. There will be 12 from the morning and 8 from the evening. This is because of 47 players in the morning vs. 31 in the evening. THE 6 DIVISION WINNERS & 6 WILDCARDS in the morning along with THE 5 DIVISION WINNERS & 3 WILDCARDS in the evening will play for the Mens Championship. There will be 6 division winners from the morning & 5 from the evening and the next 6 leaders in points in the morning and 3 in the evening will win wildcard spots. The division winners will be seeded 1 thru 6 (or 5) and the remaining seeds will be based on point total. TIES for division & wild card position will be broken by taking the current scoring average minus their current handicap. If a tie still exists we go to the number of points last week and go back until the tie broken.
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES
After the seedings take place the following match ups will be:
Morning - Seeds 1-6-7-12         2-5-8-11         3-4-9-10
Evening-  Seeds  1-4-5-8          2-3-6-7
The 3 winners of each foursomes from the morning will be matched with the TOP TWO from the morning advancing to the FINAL FORE. The 2 winners of the evening foursomes will also advance to the FINAL FORE.  That means that two players will be from the morning & two from the evening. The playoff extra point tie-breaker is used to break ties in a foursome or in determining the final two of the three winners. A sudden death playoff with handicap, starting on hole 9, can be used if time, player availability and agreement is met.
The FINAL FORE will play SEPTEMBER 4th at 3 PM or another time or day agreed upon. The winner of the foursome will be the MEN’S LEAGUE CHAMPION- no matter what their point total is. For THIS MATCH , a player must win out right and cannot win on a tie-breaker. A sudden death playoff, with handicap, starting on hole 9 will determine the Champion.

ALL PLAYERS NOT IN THE FINAL 20 will play for their own title. The 7th annual Caddy Cup will take play for all other players. The remaining 58 players will be ranked according to points and be divided into 16 groups. The match ups will be:
 1-32-33                        2-31-34-                     3-30-35-                     4-29-36-
 8-25-40-57                   7-26-39-58                 6-27-38                      5-28-37
9-24-41-56                 10-23-42-55               11-22-43-54               12-21-44-53
16-17-48-49                15-18-47-50              14-19-46-51               13-20-45-52
The winners of each group will leave 16 winners in which the scores will be matched to get down to 4 players. THEY WILL PLAY SEPTEMBER 5th at 3 pm for the 6th ANNUAL CADDY CUP.
Remember, ANYONE can win the Caddy Cup. Your current point total has no bearing on qualifying for the Caddy Cup. Yes, you can be LAST in points and still be a finalist if you win your bracket.
Alternates will be chosen if one of the finalist cannot play and will be based on the second place in their bracket.
